Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats – St. Patrick’s Day Style!

St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching and I cannot wait to celebrate! I always wear green (it’s my favorite color!) to get into the spirit of things and this year, I wanted to get even more festive. What better way to celebrate than with a yummy treat? Brown butter Rice Krispie Treats take the traditional dessert up a notch, and I’m making them St. Patrick’s Day Style with Lucky Charms!

I got lucky, what I came up with turned out even better than I could’ve expected! You’re lucky too because I’m going to share my recipe for my new St. Patrick’s Day staple: Brown Butter Salted Rice Krispie Treats. You get sweet, salty, AND nutty flavors in this crowd-pleasing dessert! Here is how to make them at home:

Brown Butter Rice Krispie Treats

6 cups Rice Krispies
4 cups Mini Lucky Charms
2 10oz Marshmallow Bags
8 oz Butter (2 sticks)
1/2 tsp Salt
Sea Salt

1. Butter a 9×13 baking dish. Set aside.

2. Cut the butter into 1 tbsp pieces and add to a pot on medium-high heat. The color of the butter is important, so try to use a light-colored pot if possible. Stir constantly to avoid burning.

3. Once the butter is melted and turns an amber color, add 1 bag of marshmallows and 1/2 tsp of salt. Stir until well combined. Then add 1 more bag of marshmallows. Stir until well combined.

4. Add Rice Krispies in 1-cup increments and stir between each cup. Repeat with Mini Lucky Charms. Stir until well combined.

5. Transfer the mixture to the 9×13 baking dish. Even it out across the whole pan and level on top. Nestle in some Mini Lucky Charms Marshmallows on top then sprinkle with some sea salt. Let them cool completely before cutting, then dig in!

And just like that, you’ve struck gold in the kitchen! These fun and easy St. Patrick’s Day treats are magically delicious and will charm anyone who tries them! Let me know how they turned out for you. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone!
