May I present… the guest bedroom of my dreams! I keep telling Michael that this is my new room and I am going to move out of our room haha. Getting to this point has been quite the journey! In December last year we did a quick $50 flip and then this year we installed new flooring in the entire upstairs which turned into a whole entire upstairs renovation.
BEDROOM BEFORE
When I was looking at old pictures today I couldn’t even believe that only a year ago it looked so sad.
In December last year I challenged myself to get the room in better shape before my in laws arrived from Denmark. I used items that I had on hand and gave myself a budget of $50, and I think we did pretty good! Here is where we ended up after the $50 refresh…
BEDROOM AFTER
And here is where we are today… WHAT AN UPGRADE. I feel like the DIY rental friendly no power tool feature wall really helped the room come to life. Blog post coming on that ASAP! We upgraded from a queen to king to make it more comfortable for guests, and while this is a small room, it still works in the space. I think it is so serene and just feels bigger with the green paint color. Money Moves by Clare Paint has to be the best green paint color around.
These sconces were a no brainer (they’re so gorg!) but didn’t want to pay to get them hardwired. I had this weird idea to really embrace the plug in sconce instead of hiding it and I really love how it turned out! It is a nice little nod to the ravioli headboard from the original $50 refresh. Such a unique lighting idea because every time you do it, it would be different.
Here are the sources for all of the items that I used in the bedroom makeover. Hopefully this gives you some good green bedroom inspiration if you are hoping to embark on a bedroom refresh of your own.
