My Sisters Bedroom Makeover – Calm Aesthetic Teenage Bedroom Inspo

My sisters bedroom makeover is fished! My sister recently moved back to Dallas and her room needed some work! She wanted to elevate the space and create a calm serene retreat for herself at the end of the day. She asked if I could help her and I was ready for the challenge! The first order of business was getting rid of the teal walls in her room. They felt completely overwhelming and weren’t cohesive with out vision.

We opted to paint the ENTIRE room (ceilings included) in the color Ginger Sugar by BEHR. It was the perfect creamy neutral without feeling too stark. Haven’t the walls be this color would also allow for all the white accents we added around the room (e.g. the curtains, the artwork, nightstand, etc.) to really pop.

Instead of opting for a lamp on the bedside table we decided to add a hanging light fixture. To avoid hiring an electrician we used Nesting with Grace magic light trick. All the ambiance of hanging light without the headache of moving electrical lines.

Her room before had a freestanding bookshelf that we decide to get rid of. We added brackets and some pin wood for a more built in and custom look. We painted them the same color as the wall to keep everything tone on tone.

For the feature wall we used half round moulding to create a simple and cost effective design. We cute the half round molding into two lengths, 5.5′ and 2.5′, with the longer length coming down from the ceiling and the shorter length coming up from the baseboards. This allowed the two length to overlap about 6 inches. In order to figure out the spacing we used this board and batten calculator. You put in your dimension and the dimension of your batten and it will give you the proper spacing.

Overall we are just so happy with how it turned out! Its the perfect serene space and it was so fun to work on together. Definitely some calm aesthetic teenage bedroom inspo. Selfishly I hope she never leaves Texas now.
